Dear Parents/Guardians,
This year all of our students will take part in MCAS, the state testing assessment. These assessments provide parents, teachers, and students with valuable feedback on our students' progress. The results of the MCAS provide the community with an additional measure as to the overall performance of the school. All teachers and students are working hard to prepare for this latest round of assessments, which are computer based for all of our grades. The tests will be administered according to the following schedule:
ELA - April 4th & 5th: Grade 6
ELA - April 6th & 7th: Grade 7
ELA - April 11th & 12th: Grade 8
Math - May 2nd & 3rd: Grade 6
Math - May 4th & 5th Grade 7
Math - May 9th & 10th Grade 8
Science - May 17th & 18th Grade 8
All of our current students must pass the MCAS in high school to graduate and receive a diploma. To best prepare students for this difficult challenge, student participation in these assessments is essential. Students will be better prepared for the high school MCAS if they have continuously and successfully prepared for the types of questions and format used on these assessments. Additionally, teachers will have more information about their students' performance and will be better able to tailor instruction to the needs of their students. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
Sincerely,
Rick DeCristofaro
Principal of Central Middle School
